We all know the feeling: design a really nice mission with many player aircraft options, only to have the air base look like a desert diner: mostly empty.

A few years ago, fellow mission designer Hardcard created a fantastic script to do away with the emptiness (and, admittedly, mission performance): SWAPR. I've used SWAPR and love the idea.

So it is with great humility and a deep bow to Hardcard that I present 'StopGaps': It's a light-weight re-imgination of Hardcard's idea that replaces all player planes with their static equivalents until a player jumps into them. After players leave their plane, it is returned to the parking position.

"CnK" is a single/multi-player dynamic mission in which you are tasked to capture multiple FARP and airfields. You start from a Tarawa-class LHA carrying different helicopters and two Harriers. Once you have captured an airfield, you also gain access to fixed wing aircraft (note: the initial airfield capture step can be skipped).

Arrayed against you are AI-controlled REDFORCE troops that will try to re-take any FARP or airfield you may have captured.

A successful mission requires that at least one (usually more) of the players fly two or more different airframes (rotor- and/or fixed-wing) before the mission is a success. CnK heavily emphasizes helicopter warfare; it can be won flying only helicopters; having fixed-wing support for CAS and SEAD makes this scenario much easier.

WARNING: when you crash an aircraft, that aircraft's slot is blocked for the rest of the game, forcing you to capture other airfields or FARPs to re-gain access to that plane type

To be able to hover in a helicopter is like being able to parallel park a car. Difficult, unimpressive, and a prerequisite for flying any helicopter.

Well, here's a small mission that helps you hone that skill with any of DCS's currently available flyable Helicopters (and the Harrier).

The mission also throws in some element of scoring to keep you on your toes. Or rather, to keep you keep your toes on your rudder. Oh, and Instructor/Trainer MP setup is tentatively supported (requires more testing) for the MP helos

"Sea Flea" is a string of missions taking place during an international relief mission for the middle east that runs up against a developing international crisis. You are part of "Sea Flea", a UH-1 group that was originally thought to provide logistics support. These missions initially focus on logistics and CSAR, then branch out to troop insertion and light escort duty. This is the first mission that introduces you to the fleet, and therefore requires you to only land on frigates, a carrier and LHA, and hover-extract some hapless sailors lost at sea. "Lawnmower" is a mission where you train, improve, and test your helicopter landing skills. Request a landing by difficulty (easy, normal, or hard), and the mission generates an LZ based on your request. LZs are generated dynamically, from tens of thousands of possibilities, virtually guaranteeing that no two missions are identical (unless you are unusually patient). Landings are rated individually, and after five or more consecutive landings, your overall skill is rated as well. Harshly. So better step up your game, soldier!

WHAT IS IT?
Interactive Mission Debugger - inspect, change and observe flags, events and Lua Tables while the mission is running. Place units, smoke and other stuff directly on the map. Get noticed when an event happens, a flag changes its value, or changes to a particular value. Create snapshots of flags, and compare these snapshots to current values.

Debug your mission. In a smart way

If you did not understand a word of what I just said, consider yourself lucky. Should you later have the need to look at, or change, the current value of a 'flag' in one of your missions, come back here and rejoice. For you have been saved - from premature hair loss.

Provides integration with Mission Editor so you can se t up your debugging session from within ME.

TLDR: The notorious "Lawnmower" Dynamic Helicopter Landing Trainer, now in Syria, and as competition!

"CFrag's Dustblower", sister to "CFrag's Lawnmower", is a mission to train, improve, and test your helicopter landing skills. Request a landing by difficulty (easy, normal, or hard), and the mission generates an LZ based on your request. LZs are generated dynamically, from tens of thousands of possibilities, virtually guaranteeing that no two missions are identical (unless you are unusually patient). Landings are rated individually, and after five or more consecutive landings, your overall skill is rated as well. Harshly. So better step up your game, soldier!

The mission supports all DCS flyable helicopters (Huey, Ka-50 (2 and 3), Mi-8, Hind, Apache and Gazelle), and you can switch between airframes. MP competition supported. Two hot slots and one cold slot per type per city.

The A-10A is a great plane, but too few people fly the A-Hog. Why?

Mostly, because there are too few training missions available.

Let's change that. Here is a package of (currently) 19 (hopefully fun) missions that teach everything you wanted to know to drive the Hog: cold start, flying the pattern, firing Mavs, formation flying - all covered.

Note: These missions work especially well in VR.
