To the men and women of the Osean Army, this radio call may be the very difference between life and death on the battlefield. The AC-130J “Mad Knight”, belonging to the Osean Air Defense Force’s 1st Special Operations Wing, is one of the dozens of gunships that have been the angel from above to save countless troops on the battlefield.
First seeing action in the Circum-Pacific war in 2010, AC-130J BuNo. 035837 has had countless sorties to support everything from standard infantry units operating on the front lines, to Special Forces units sent into countries far away from Osea’s boarders. While the origin of the nose art cannot be definitively determined, it is believed that 5837’s dark-knight iconography originated after Operation Desert Arrow in late 2010 and has been maintained by the countless crews she has had ever since.
