This mission is a joint operation to conduct an amphibious landing leading to the capture of Sochi-Adler airfield with a few fun surprises along the way.
Enemy armor, artillery, infantry, aircraft and mobile SAM units make life interesting. Friendly forces include US Marine Harriers, Cobras, Navy F-14s, F/A-18s, a CVN Battlegroup, along with LSTs and destroyers. USAF provides F-15s, F-16s, AWAC and tanker aircraft and, of course, A10C-IIs. :)
You'll perform a low level ingress through a narrow river valley using terrain masking at tree top level to get close enough to take out an SA-11 site with your gun. After the SA-11 is eliminated the landings commence and the Hogs provide CAS for the landing forces. When the field is captured you'll refuel and rearm to provide CAS to defend against any enemy counterattacks. Once you're notified that the field is secure, you'll return to land at Sochi.
Mission requires approximately 90 minutes to complete if successful.
This mission started life as the fourth mission in a multiplayer campaign for my son and me with the option to fly the F/A-18, F-14B or A-10C-II. Hope you enjoy it!
