Situation Update:
With efficient CAS support from the Air Force and the Navy, U.S.M.C 4th, 5th and 6th regiments successfully took over Bandar Abbas City on Day 20. The remaining Iranian resistant forces surrendered by sunset, marking a stage victory for our allied force, as most coastal regions of southern Iran were under our control, after three weeks of joint operation. Now the Hormuz Strait is out of the rocket and short-range missile effective attack range from Tehran, and the risks for commercial ships transiting the strait were reduced to normal levels. Insurance companies finally gave the green light to shipowners to sail through the strait but with a war premium. On the first morning after Bandar Abbas was taken over, hundreds of cargo ships departed the ports in the Persian Gulf, making the Hormuz Strait one of the busiest waterways in the world again. Most of the ships were tankers and bulkers, loaded with millions of tons of raw materials and energy products, sailing through the strait to their destinations around the world. However, the leader of the military regime was not willing to compromise yet. Russia continued to send supplies and weapons to Tehran through the Caspian Sea. Our intelligence showed that eight Su-27 fighters and four Su-30 fighters had been deployed in Kerman Airbase, and more than eight thousand Russian troops had also arrived at the Kerman region, joining the Iranian army to stop our allied ground force from pushing further north. Meanwhile, the uranium enrichment plant in Tabas had produced more than 5kg of 90% highly enriched U-235, or half of the critical mass for a nuclear warhead. Several strike plans on the enrichment plant were brought out and discussed by the US 5th Fleet and USAF Middle East Joint Operation Commanding Center, but the final strike plan was still in debate and its details were top confidential. No matter when and how, expanding a strategic depth would pave the way for a deeper strike in the hinterland of Iran. Therefore, the battle for Kerman became a top priority. A joint offensive counter-air operation was scheduled on Day 21 by the Air Force and the Navy, aiming to neutralize the remaining Iranian Air Force and the Russian mercenary fighters in the Kerman region and gain air supremacy in the deeper northern airspace beyond the frontline.
