Situation Update:
With the weapon and intelligence support from the Russians, the Iranian Army made more aggressive plans. Although their attempt to break into Bandar Abbas suburbs with hundreds of battle tanks yesterday turned unsuccessful. Our intel showed that on the night of Day 13, sixteen aircraft took off from Kerman Air Base, the command center of the Iranian Air Force 2nd Air Wing. Firstly, these aircraft were presumed to perform regular CAP missions in the North Corridor. However, 10 minutes after takeoff, these aircraft disappeared from our early warning radar system around the Hazar mountain area; 30 minutes later, we detected a large package in the Bazman Volcano area, about 200 nm to the east of Bandar Abbas. The package is currently flying south toward the coast at high speed. Our analysis officers believed that the CVN-71 Carrier Group is their target. In that case, this Iranian strike package would presumably consist of Su-24 and F-5 as the attacker, and Mig-29 and F-14 as an escort, Su-24 is capable of carrying Kh-31A/P air-to-surface missiles with an effective range of more than 50nm. The CVN-71 Carrier Group will be in their attack range in less than 30 minutes. Therefore, the Fleet Commander authorized an emergency scramble of four flights, Hawk 1, Hawk 2, Chevy 1, and Chevy 2, to intercept the Iranian intruders. Each flight consists of four F/A-18C hornets with full air-to-air weapon loadout, these four flights were originally planned for CAP tasks in the morning. The CVN-71 Carrier Group turned full alert, and made a hard starboard turn, reversing its course from northwest back to the southeast in less than 10 minutes. Now the Carrier is again ready to shoot the fighter jets into the vast Gulf of Oman.
