This is a work in progress campaign for the Hornet on the Persian Gulf Map. Inspired by recent events and the Tanker Wars, Oil In The Water tells the story of an escalating conflict between the US and Iran that is sparked by Iran's attack of two oil tankers with Silkworm missiles as they transit the Strait of Hormuz.
Recent events with Iran in the Persian Gulf got me inspired to make a few missions for the Hornet and also to read up on the Tanker Wars period of the Iran-Iraq war in 1987-1988. The result turned into a 12-mission campaign, with the first half roughly based on the Tanker Wars but with a modern twist. From there, the story will escalate beyond the 1988 conflict. My campaign is set in 2012, so the Hornet will have all its toys to play with.
The plan is to release a 12-mission single-player campaign, along with 2-player co-op variants of every mission, and 4-player co-op variants of at least most missions. Each mission is fully robo-voiced.
This is a work in progress and I'm releasing it in chunks as I complete and play test them. For now, the single-player missions will just be standalone missions, I don't plan on making them a formal DCS campaign until all 12 are finished. This is the first thing I've ever published for DCS, and by far the most ambitious mission creation I've ever done, so I'm learning a lot as I go. Let me know if you encounter any issues.
-Missions 1 through 3, both single-player and 2-player co-op versions.
Unzip and place the mission files in either your DCS World\Mods\Aircraft\FA-18C\Missions\Single or Saved Games\DCS\Missions folders.
-Mission 1 single-player: the wingman AI is stupid. Ordering him to engage mission targets *should* tell him to attack the launchers on Tunb, but he doesn't always. Sometimes he just flies right into the Hawk battery instead. Expect to need to complete the mission by yourself. You can order him to attack ground targets instead and see what happens - it might be useful.
-Mission 2 co-op: There's a DCS bug which causes de-sync issues with delayed start boats. This means any clients won't be able to see or attack the boats in the mission. As a workaround I've made the co-op mission more anti-air heavy, and made Uzi 11 have an air-to-ground loadout while Uzi 12 has an air-to-air loadout. The player flying as Uzi 11 needs to be the host.
