Gaddafi's Libyan regime operated 96 MIG-25PDs imported from the Soviet Union, as well as additional MIG-25RBK and PU variants. Libyan Foxbats took part in a number of encounters with US Navy aircraft patroling the Gulf of Sidra, during a time of increased tension between the two nations.
