Situation Update:
A hectic and productive wild weasel action had been carried out on Day 15 and most of the major SAM threats are eliminated in Faryab region. Marine Corp's 5th Regiment also broke into Bandar Abbas and had taken a steelmill as a stronghold in the industrial zone on the west side of the city, but they couldn't advance further as the defense inside the city was still effective and the Iranians were preparing for a bloody street combat to keep the harbor city. In the meantime, our ground force on the east side was also under high pressure from the Iranian army's counterattack. The battle was escalating hour by hour around Kormon Town, a key junction connecting Bandar Abbas and Minab. The Iranians continued sending reinforcement and supplies from Jiroft to Dehbarez via two main highways, planning for a larger counter-offensive movement on the east side. A large convoy departed Jiroft at midnight, and one hour ago, our reconnaissance drone spotted this convoy just passed Langabad and split into two groups. The north group took Highway 92 to the west and the south group took Highway 91 to the south. Our intel officer believed both convoys are heading to Dehbarez and they are se t to arrive this afternoon. As the majority of Iranian SAM sites in that region were taken out during yesterday's mission, the Iranian Air Force also scrambled several sorites to escort their convoy. The CVN-73 Strike Group had sent Raven One and Raven Two to conduct TARCAP in the Faryab region earlier this morning. Meanwhile, Hawk One and Hawk Two were spooling on the deck of CVN-71 Carrier, preparing for their missions to interdict the Iranian convoy from moving forward. Cluster bombs and high explosive rockets were loaded carefully by the crew under the wings, eyeing for maximum damage to the enemy convoy.
