This is a submission for the B-17G Livery Competition. It includes two skins, one a detailed 'Texas Chubby' and one plain and without the distinguishing markings of 'Texas Chubby". It is a generic B-17G of the 322nd BG, 91st BS as specified in the competition rules. Speculars are used but I will change to roughmets if the developers decide to upgrade the B-17 to PBR. The detailed skin depicts Serial number 42-31634, a B-17G-25-DL, code: LG-O, nicknamed "Texas Chubby - The J'Ville Jolter". The plane flew 50 combat missions with the 322nd Bombardment Squadron of the 91st Bombardment Group. Attacked by German fighters on 16-Aug-44 while on a mission to bomb aircraft factories at Halle, Germany and blew up in mid-air. Crashed in the Forest of Mollenfelde at Eichenberg/Thurlingen, Germany with 5KIA and 4POW.

The USS Bon Homme Richard* (CVA-31) has just returned to Yankee Station from a 10-day break in operations. With Air Wing 21 embarked CVA31 had begun combat operations in support of the Republic of South Vietnam in late February 1967. Onboard were VA-212 Rampant Raiders (A4E), VA-215 Barn Owls (A1J Skyraider) and VA-76 Spirits (A4C) making up the attack portion of the air wing. A new list of ‘Alpha’ priority targets was released by the Johnson war planners. Today’s strikes around Haiphong promise much heavier anti-aircraft defences than has been seen up to now.
The morning strike recovered with many battle-damaged aircraft and the grim news that VA-76 pilot Charles Stackhouse has been downed by a MiG17.
The afternoon strike group is just getting ready to launch...

The Syrian civil war has become too dangerous for the UN blue helmets in Damascus. The integrist forces are approaching the city and will arrive within the hour.
Most UN personel has aready left.
While performing a last minute extraction of friendly assets, a UN blackhawk has been downed in the Sahnaya quarter. The area is not safe for another Helicopter extraction, so a convoy has been set and shipped to the crashing Area.

In the early hours of the last day of the Yom Kippur War, the Israeli high command ordered an IDF armored division to seize Port Suez, a major city on the southern terminus of The Suez canal. The division attacked at dawn with three brigades, none of which had an experience or training in joint operations in urban warfare. The Egyptians had been planning their defense of the city for about six months. By afternoon, the IDF was retreating and A-4Es were called in to help cover them.

As it became clear the United Nations would soon impose a cease fire in the Yom Kippur War, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan decided the Observation Post atop Mount Hermon should be in Israel's control when the peacekeeping force arrived. The Israeli OP was lost on the first day of the war when it was overrun by Syrian commandos. The Golani Brigade was given the mission and it attacked with infantry climbing the mountain on the right flank, an armored column in the center an armored reconnaissance vehicles on the left flank. On the eve of the attack, four A-4Es from Ramat David Air Force Base attempted to clear out Syrian ambush sites on the road up to the OP.

When three IDF armored divisions crossed the Suez Canal, the ground forces also knocked the SAM sites in the area. This allowed the IAF, for the first time in the Sinai campaign, to conduct Close Air Support missions without worries about SAMs. A-4Es flew in front of Israeli tanks pushing west from the canal. They found dug-in Egyptian armor fortifications.

The Soviet-provided SAMs were making it very dangerous for the IAF to provide Close Air Support to IDF armored units about to attack west across the Suez Canal. Al Qantara, a city that straddled the canal was a major site of Egyptian SAM units. A-4Es were sent in to destroy them.

By the midpoint of the Yom Kippur war, IDF forces were pushing hard toward Damascus. Iraq and Jordan sent armored forces to beef up the Syrian defense of their capital. Israeli intelligence identified an Iraqi armored column moving from Baghdad to Damascus. At night, Israeli paratroopers helicoptered in to blow up a bridge and block the Iraqi tanks and artillery. Then A-4Es were sent on a night mission to attack the stalled convoy.

The IDF prepared to cross the Suez Canal to encircle the Egyptian Third Army. The IAF was tasked with attacking Egyptian Aior Force bases to destroy any Egyptian Close Air Support Capability. Salihihiya was a principal target for A-4s and F-4s.

After the first week of the Yom Kippur War, Egypt decided to push east from he Suez Canal, past it SAM umbrella. One Egyptian armored brigade attempted to move through the Mitla Pass. An Israeli paratroop battalion with attached Israeli tanks blocked the pass. Then they called in A-4Es to bomb the enemy vehicles.

With Israel about to go on the offensive against Syria, the IAF was assigned to attack Syrian MiG bases. This one is on the outskirts of Damascus. Another major upgrade of an older mission.

Eight A-4Es returning fr om a bombing mission with a full load of ordnance were diverted ny an IAF controller to attack a site wh ere Syrian armor and artillery were massing for an attack in the Golan Heights. This is another major upgrade of an earlier mission.

When the Syrians attacked Ramat David IAF base with rockets, the IAF decided an appropriate response would be to bomb the Syrian Army Headquarters in Damascus. This is a major upgrade of a mission I posted some time ago.

In the first two days of the Yom Kippur war, the IAF lost 10 percent of its A-4Es to state-of-the art SAMs and AAA provided by the Soviets. One IAF pilot believed he could avoid the Syrian air defenses by flying low through a river canyon along the Syria-Jordan border. He was one of only two A-4E pilots to hit his assigned target on Day 2 of the war.

Established by the Independent States Allied Force and seeing subsequent action during the Continental War in 2003, the Vigilantes were inherited by the Bulgurdarestian Air Force in 2007 with the formal disestablishment of the ISAF Air Force.
Since then, the Vigilantes have been one of the BAF units assigned to the IUN Peacekeeping Force assigned to the Usea Region, in conjunction with the Osean Air Defense Force Usean Command and other international units.
Vigilantes would serve again during the 2014 Erusean uprising and again during the 2019 Lighthouse War, providing air security against Erusean threats on the continent.

“Marianas Foothold” is a dynamic war of conquest, inspired by the ‘Foothold’ missions and based on the same scripting framework. The zoneCommander framework is made by the very talented ‘Dzsekeb’. Please support his work if you’re able to. :-)
The objective of this campaign is to push an invading Red Force away from the gains they have made on Marianas and main island Guam, and then advance from base to base. Freeing every occupied base from the Red Force and using it in your campaign.
This dynamic campaign is designed for a 2-8 pilot strong Blue Force Squadron. Because that’s how we fly it in our DCS Fighterwing Danica community. You can adjust it up or down to your liking, depending on your skill-level and how many pilots you have flying with you.
Working together on a tactical level and using your resources wisely, is key to winning this scenario!
I hope you'll enjoy it!
