In the first two days of the Yom Kippur war, the IAF lost 10 percent of its A-4Es to state-of-the art SAMs and AAA provided by the Soviets. One IAF pilot believed he could avoid the Syrian air defenses by flying low through a river canyon along the Syria-Jordan border. He was one of only two A-4E pilots to hit his assigned target on Day 2 of the war.

As the Germans are pressing to supply their forces in Tunisia by both sea and air, a recon aircraft has spotted two enemy merchant ships anchored off Italian-held Pantellaria Island. Two flights of A20 Boston bombers have been sent to attack them. You are ordered to fly CAP over them to destroy any German or Italian air cover over the island.

The primary mission of the PFT (and all of RAF 145 Squadron and 244 Group) was to gain air superiority over the Eighth Army. That included providing high cover for attack aircraft on interdiction and close air support missions. On 2 April 1943, while supporting two flights of A20 Bostons attacking German artillery, a four-Spitfire PFT patrol destroyed three BF 109s and damaged two others. You are the flight leader.

The Polish Fighting Team was a hand-picked group of 15 Polish RAF aces sent to North Africa fly in the Tunisia Campaign. The highly aggressive unit soon became known as "Skalski's Circus." They formed Flight C of 145 RAF Squadron which was tasked with gaining air superiority over the Eight Army as it attacked northward up the east coast of Tunisia. Their first combat was on 28 March 1943.

RAF radar on Malta has spotted a dozen JU88s heading for the battered convoy. You are the flight leader of the Spitfires scrambled to protect the supply ships.

At 0600 George Beurling led a flight of four Spitfires to defend RAF Takali from two flights of JU88s and escorting fighters on a dawn raid on Takali.  Another Spitfire flight already was orbiting the airfield. Beurling would shoot down two Macchi 202s and a bf 109. Later in the day, he would shoot down another bf 109, tying Johnny Plagis's record of four kills in a single day. Beurling's victims included the top Regia Aeronatica ace over Malta.
