On 1 June 1943, Wing Commander John Selby, (pctured) commander of 23 Squadron RAF flying out of RAF Luqa on Malta, was the first member of the unit to try out the newly-arrived Mosquito FB VIs in a bombing raid on rail traffic in Sicily. The unit had been flying Mosquito NF IIs, which were great at strafing but carried no bombs. The FB VI could carry up to four bombs. Selby announced his mission as the start of the "bombing programme" for 23 Squadron. Indeed it was. For the rest of the summer, 23 Squadron flew almost non-stop lone-Mosquito "Train Busting" missions to Sicily and Italy. Fly as Selby to take out trains near Syracuse, Sicily.

Germany depended heavily on iron ore brought by rail from Sweden and then carried down the Norwegian coast by ship to German factories. The Banff Strike Wing was created specifically to stop those shipments. This forced the ore ships to travel only at night and hide in Norway's fjords by day. On 17 February 1945, a convoy of ore ships was spotted in the Norwegian port of Aalesund and a force of Mosquitos was sent to sink it.

Germany is withdrawing its ground forces from Norway to reinforce the Wehrmacht defending Germany as Russian, British and American forces rapidly approach.

On 7 Feb 44, a Mossie patrol flown by Norwegian scout pilots spotted eight MFPs (MarineFahrPrahms)  carrying German tanks and artillery pieces out of the Oslo Fjord and alerted the Banff Strike Wing. A force of 32 Mosquitos were dispatched to sink the MFPs. Fly with them.

YOU WILL NEED THE FALKLANDS/SOUTH ATLANTIC MAP to fly this mission. Get it. It's stunning!
