On 10 August 1970 a MACV-SOG recon team was landed just inside Laos to keep watch on a portion of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Right after the team unloaded from the helicopter, the Huey was shot down by an NVA ground force. Two of the crewmembers were killed but the rest, along with the Special Forces team, escaped and headed for another LZ to await pickup. A Bright Light team -- specialized in extracting downed air crews and rescuing POWS -- was called in. You are the FAC in charge of all air assets in the rescue mission.

You are a Prairie Fire FAC in a USAF OV-10A tasked with inserting a Special Forces patrol inside Laos. You control the air component: Two A-4Es, two AH-1 Cobras and two UH-1 Hueys (one carries six Green Berets the other is a spare).  Before the Special Forces can land and deploy, you must clear the LZ of any enemy forces and fly top cover while the Special Forces patrol clears the LZ and  heads toward their objective..
