This is one of the last three 812th Medical Detachment (Air Ambulance) UH-1Vs to leave Esler Airfield in Pineville, LA, on June 9th, 2009. The Huey served the Louisiana Guard for more than 30 years, beginning its service with the state in the 1960s. The Huey has provided Louisiana with medevac, firefighting, troop and cargo transport and emergency responses. During Hurricane Katrina, the Huey helicopters flew over 200 hours of operation in five days where they hoisted 144 trapped people, and moved more than 600 from flooded areas.
