El 21 de mayo de 1982 aviones de combate argentinos de la Fuerza Aérea y de la Aviación Naval atacan a la fragata británica HMS Ardent en el estrecho de San Carlos, en Islas Malvinas. Como resultado de este ataque el buque de la Royal Navy se hundió al día siguiente. Aquel día fue llamado por los británicos como ¨el Callejón de las Bombas¨
