This aircraft was one of the first Messerschmitt Bf 109 Gs delivered to the Finnish Air Force. It arrived in Suomen Ilmavoimat on 09.03.1943 and was given the registration "MT-208". However, on 16.04.1943, after only 12 flying hours, it was severely damaged in a take-off accident, necessitating thorough and lengthy repairs.

After the successful repair, it was initially assigned to the 2./HLeLv 24 for about a week and was then transferred to the 3./HLeLv 28, which had previously flown the Morane 406 and was now equipped with the Messerschmitt.

Four kills were achieved with this aircraft:
- 26.07.1944, pilot Erkki Alkio, one Airacobra.
- 27.07.1944, pilot P-Piispa, one Airacobra.
- 29.07.1944, pilot A.Heimo, two Airacobras.

01.08.1946 was the last flying day for the aircraft. During an aerial practice firing at a towed target sheet, the tow cable was severed by a bullet and the Messerschmitt hit the sheet. Debris got into the supercharger intake scoop and the tow cable got wrapped around the propeller, causing the engine to stop, about 20 seconds after the incident. The pilot Väinö Pokela survived the emergency water landing. After a subsequent recovery attempt was unsuccessful, the aircraft was forgotten over the decades.
It was only rediscovered in 1983. However, it was not possible to salvage the machine immediately due to funding, so it took another 16 years. The plane was recovered from the sea in 1999.
