“Only “old men” go into battle” is a Ukrainian Soviet military feature film directed by Leonid Bykov, filmed in Ukraine at the Film Studio named after Alexandra Dovzhenko in 1973. The film was released on August 12, 1974. By the end of the year, the film was watched by 44 million 300 thousand viewers. The film takes the 16th position in the list of 100 best films in the history of Ukrainian cinema.
The Second World War. Captain Titarenko has always recruited pilots into his squadron who, in addition to piloting skills, can sing well. All of his "old men" were no more than twenty, and even younger graduates of the accelerated flight schools served as replenishment. Titarenko always tried to protect the last ones from fighting, but when the enemy was on Ukrainian soil, there was nowhere to retreat. The original Mission has all Russian Text and Radio messages along with all Russian Audio files.
The mission also has many references to the movie built into it.
I translated the maps & briefings Text and Radio messages to english, I left the Audio files in Russian since the Radio messages have english text anyway.
The Radio Chatter, of which their is a lot is DIALOGUE from the MOVIE so I left it in Russian it adds a lot of ambiance to the mission.
The mission is pure VANILLA-DCS so no MoD's which makes it a prefect tester for new DCS-UPDATES!! to your DCS-OB.
Also since it's so VANILLA it's easy to MoD it any way you so desire, I myself have MoD-ed it for su-25 and Mi-24P along with other MoD's.
