Georgia is going full steam towards joining NATO, strengthening it's defence posture, and gathering intel for potential targets. Russian backed guerilla forces have crossed the border, probably to harass and test for our "hard line". We have warned them, and are running daily recon flights armed with bombs to make it clear.
This mission serves as an easy introductory flight to the region, but also as a recon/navigation challenge. Engaging the enemy is optional.
Mainly a flight over friendly forces, with option to engage a mortar team about to harass allied armour.
However as a recon specialist, but freshest deployed pilot, you are nicknamed Little Eyes. You are executing this mission with no waypoints, you will navigate the terrain, and fly close enough to your objectives to call out specific unit types.
Objectives
1 locate and overfly friendly AD unit in mountain ridge, ID the friendly convoy as containing an EWR, an MRLS, or just trucks.
2 locate and overfly the forest region described on map, and search the entire perimeter(s) for 2 groups of friendly armour, report type and qty on request
note the value of cover, for armoured units, and troops, as you search the forest, it hides a few hundred tanks right now, and is why the defence zone is where it is.
3 optional, perform a pre-emptive strike on mortar teams, that just positioned in range of the armour. Location is randomized to a N, E, or S spot, in one tiny town, north of the forest. Again, no wypts, you are to find the target by searching all 3 spots visually.
4 optional, mad dog run it at the enemy air defense unit, the radars are centralized, to be a somewhat easier target than realistic perhaps.
*Study the forest area in ME, to memorize your visual cues, to limit your search to the relevant forest.
I've "hidden" the armour units as seeing them does spoil the search task,
*do look at the mortar team in ME, to make sure you understand the "talk-on"as they are still quite difficult to spot in flight, even if you prebriefed the unit possibilities.
*this is fly-able at night with NVGs, recommend doing it in daylight first until/unless you are familiar with the area.
