At Dunsfold three RAF squadrons operated Mitchells – 98, 180 and 320 Squadron.
They were initially equipped with Mitchell II’s They were equivalent to the variant that the Americans used, the Mitchell B25C's
In 1944 the squadrons got Mitchell III’s, the B25J's The B25 Mitchell's of 320 sqn are the inspiration for this livery project.

The 320 Dutch Squadron RAF was a maritime squadron of Dutch Aviators within the British RAF.
The 320 Squadron was founded on June 1, 1940 as the first foreign unit within the RAF.
The 320 Squadron was based on the Scottish east coast from early 1941. After 320 Squadron became part of Bomber Command in the spring of 1943, it focused on bombing mainland Europe, including the occupied Netherlands. During World War II it flew almost 5,500 combat sorties and lost 162 crew members.
De 320 Dutch Squadron RAF was een maritiem squadron van Nederlanders binnen de Britse RAF. Het 320 squadron werd op 1 juni 1940 opgericht als de eerste buitenlandse eenheid binnen de RAF. Het 320 squadron had vanaf begin 1941 hun basis aan de Schotse oostkust. Nadat 320 Squadron in het voorjaar van 1943 deel ging uitmaken van Bomber Command legde het zich toe op het bombarderen van het Europese vasteland, waaronder bezet Nederland. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog voerde het bijna 5.500 gevechtsvluchten uit en verloor 162 bemanningsleden.
