TCG Akdeniz (F-257) was a Tepe-class frigate transferred from the US Navy to the Turkish Navy. While serving with USN she was Knox-class frigate USS Bowen (FF-1079).
USS Bowen, was decommissioned on 30 June 1994 and loaned to Turkey and named Akdeniz (Mediterranean). She was delisted from the US Navy on January 11, 1995 and sold to Turkey on February 22, 2002. The ship was removed from active service in 2012.
