This is a preview mission of a campaign I’m working on for the F/A-18 Hornet and the Caucuses map. The idea is Georgia has received 12 Used F/A-18C Hornets and other equipment from NATO to deter Russia from continued aggression after the 2008 Georgian Russian War and the 2014 invasion of Crimea. This mission starts as Abkhazian forces launch a surprise attack across the Inguri river in what looks like a full scale unprovoked invasion backed by Russia.

There are no mods and no Aircraft carriers required.
Mission includes AI voice overs and Kneeboards.

version 1.1

Brief:
0915 Local, 24, February 2016
“This morning at approximately 0900 local time, Abkhazian forces carried out an unprovoked rocket artillery attacked on Senaki airfield. Shortly after Abkhazian ground forces utilizing heavy armor attacked Georgian boarder guards and crossed the Inguri river at the Koki and Organtia bridges.

The light Georgian forces guarding the boarder in the area are performing a fighting retreat from Koki to the south while trying to avoid being cut off by advancing Abkhazian units that crossed at Organtia from the west. As more Abkhazian forces pour over the bridge in Koki the ability of the Boarder guards to disengage and retreat is being limited. Stopping the Abkhazians from moving more units across the bridge should allow the Georgian forces to retreat to better defensive positions.
Your mission is to damage or destroy the Koki Bridge over the Inguri river. Russian air defenses in the area necessitate a low-level ingress and popup bombing attack on the bridge. SHORAD may be incorporated into the invading forces on both sides of the river. At this time radar shows no Russian or Abkhazian air assets in the area and no intelligence points to any being prepared.

Airframe 12 is currently the only bird on the flight line that is ready for flight with the rest of the squadron undergoing minor Maintenance, so this will be a singleton flight. Your callsign is Uzi 1-1.

Uzi 1-1 is being loaded with 4 Mk 84 2000lbs bombs right now. It will likely require hits from all 4 bombs to damage the bridge enough to prevent further Abkhazian forces from crossing. A multiple release, Pop-upAuto bombing attack is suggested. You will likely only have one pass at the target.

Waypoint 1 is the North East exit of Kobuleti airspace, fly a left hand turn after takeoff and climb to 2000ft MSL for Waypoint 1. Waypoint 2 is your fence in point and you should be squared away, at 500ft AGL and 500 knots when crossing it. Waypoint 3 is a NAV point that will bring you to the North side of the Hills South of Zugdidi. Waypoint 4 is your pop-up point. Pull 45˚ nose up at full AB for the pop-up,Apex should be between 6 and 7 thousand feet MSL. Minimum altitude at weapons release is 1,500 feet. Waypoint 5 is set as the desired impact point on the bridge surface. Pull out of the dive to the left for Waypoint 6 for egress. Get back to below 500 feet AGL as soon as possible and egress to the South to Waypoint 6 for RTB at Kobuleti.

Control will be provided by Kuaisi Tactical Control on 265.01, button 1 right. EWR “Warrior” is on 254.7, button 5 right, should enemy air assets be detected and GCI required.

Winds are 030 for 4, Broken clouds starting at 7,000 feet. Temperature -5˚ C. Expect Runway 25 for departure.

All this information and more is located on your kneeboard. Get to the jet and get started up, I don’t need to tell you the importance of what we do today. Our existence as a free country and people is at stake.”
