Historical Mission
Our new squadron of F-86 Sabres has secretly arrived in theatre, and we are going to give the enemy MiG-15s a run for their money. On paper both aircraft are evenly matched but the F-86 has never been tested in live combat against an enemy.
Today we will have the element of surprise. Our aircraft look like MiGs and the enemy will not be expecting an aircraft with a swept wing to be USAF. To further the deception, you have been given F-80 Shooting Star callsigns.
Make the most of this advantage by flying like F-80s: so don't climb above 25,000 ft and don't fly faster than 450kts until you are ready to fight. Once the firing starts the enemy will fight back!

This mission was originally written for 4 x Sabre pilots to fly against between 4 and 8 AI enemy MiG 15s. It works best in this set up but menu options have been added to allow: smaller squadrons to fight, human pilots to fly against each other or for up to two human pilots to fly as Red against an AI Sabre force.
The briefing contains a lot of information - everything there will help you find and destroy the enemy. If you are flying as the Sabres you can sneak right up on the AI MiGs if you stay within the speed and height restrictions. This is what actually happened and allowed Lt Col Hinton, the lead pilot of the Sabres, to get the first air kill in that aircraft type when his flight of aircraft completely surprised the enemy.
