On any given morning, the high desert regions at the heart of central Osea are home to a cacophony of noise. A variable orchestra of roaring turbofans, sonic booms, cannon fire and explosions as contrails arc across the sky. To the casual observer, it would appear to be a constant game of cat and mouse for control of the arid skies.

For the men and women of the 161st Desperados, its another day at the office.


The Desperados were established in 1975 at Hierlark Air Base following increased tensions between Osea and her neighbors. Their mission was to train and prepare pilots with fighter combat in the F-5 Tiger II. This would last until 1984 when Osean Air Defense Force command would divest the F-4 in training roles in favor of the F-16 Fighting Falcon for its mainline fighter training needs. In 1986, the 161st would move from northern Osea to Arixo Air Base to continue fighter training operations. Ever since, Pilots have come from around Osea and around the world to learn how to fly and fight in the venerable F-16 Viper, learning from the best pilots Osea can spare.


Due to their history as a purely Training squadron, none of the rookie pilots, nor the experienced cadre anticipated the unit earning any Air to air victories. This all would change the morning of May 16th 2019 when a handful of Erusean MQ-99 UCAVs would attack the base. The first aircraft to respond were returning from a training sortie, with no ordinance beyond the training rounds loaded into the gun, two Desperado pilots bravely held the line against the superiorly maneuverable and better armed drones. Their split second reaction buying Arixo and the rest of the Desperados enough time to sortie armed aircraft and to help Secure Oseas airspace from the robotic threat.
