Depicting Fw190A-3 Wk. Nr. 313 of Stab III./JG2, flown by Adjutant, Oblt. Arnim Faber who after shooting down a Spitfire flown by by Sergeant Trejtnar of 310 Squadron (Czech) RAF mistakenly landed at RAF Pembrey in South Wales on 23 June 1942.

Place in \Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Fw-190A8. (Create an Fw-190A8 folder if you don't have one).

Includes three versions, two in Luftwaffe markings pre-capture (Luftwaffe markings has one with and one without swastika) and one post capture after being repainted in RAF colors / markings and given the RAF serial number MP499 and a 'P' for prototype. Interesting that they retained the "Fighting Gamecock" emblem of III./JG2.

The FW-190 had only recently arrived with front line units at this time and its superior performance had caused the Allies so many problems that they were considering mounting a commando raid on a French airfield to capture one for evaluation. Later this day, Faber was to save them the effort by accidentally handing them one intact! This was the first Fw190 captured and the only one ever captured completely intact.

Whilst a prisoner of war in Canada, Faber managed to successfully convince British authorities that he suffered from epilepsy. Remarkably, it appears the authorities were taken in by his ruse and in 1944 they allowed his repatriation. Shortly after his return, he was again flying in front-line fighter operations.

Here's and interesting video that examines why he landed at Pembrey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1qA0wAwFsw
