The original 90-0776 was built as a F-16C Bl. 40K assigned to various unit across the Airforce.  Represented here with input from former "Hounds" is the aircraft with the 524th Fighter Squadron "Hounds of Heaven" as it appeared in 2006 during combat operations in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  This aircraft was widely regarded as an "excellent" aircraft by pilots and maintainers alike.  It was a "Code 1 flier".  Unfortunately this aircraft was heroically lost in Operation Iraqi Freedom on 27 November 2006.   See MAJ Troy "Trojan" Gilbert's Distinguished Flying Cross write up below.

"Major Troy L. Gilbert distinguished himself by heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-16CG pilot near Taji, Iraq on 27 November, 2006.  On that date, while leading a flight of two F-16CG aircraft,  Major Gilbert couragerously supported United States Special Operations Forces by strafing insurgents in a hotly contested zone.  Upon arriving on the scene, he observed the United States forces coming under heavy fire from insurgents employing truck-mounted heavy machine guns, rocket -propelled grenades, small arms fire, and mortars.  A crippled AH-6 helicopter and its crew were also in the area and in danger of being overrun.  Despite certain exposure to possible anti-aircraft fire, Major Gilbert immediatlely engaged the enemy with a strafing run against the trucks, destroying one with 20-millimeter cannon fire and dispersing the others.  Despite continued enemy fire on the US ground forces, Major Gilbert continued to press the insuregents with a second strafing pass which resulted in a fatal impact. His brave act, at the cost of his own life disbursed the anti-Iraq insurgent forces and helped save the lives of the AH-6 crew and other ground forces.  The oustanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Major Gilbert in dedicated service to his country reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force."
