THE MODEL
A beautiful sailship in a total of 30+ variants with either standard, ripped or transparent sails to bring you some color the Marianas scenery. Comes with Static Templates for easy import into any new or existing mission.

This «Brig» sailship looks incredibly good for a game optimized, rather low-poly model! It comes in 2 variants - with either hoisted or furled sails - and with several liveries each. Including one with torn and one with slightly tranparent ('sheer') sails. Alltogether 30+ variants you have a lot of possibilities to give your Marianas scenery some color, in ports and on the open sea!

Though a low-poly design from the beginning, I prepared the model with 5(!) additional LODS and MIPMAPS to further minimize/marginalize its power hunger. You can operate several lines and routes without any impact on fps.

I call the variants with transparent canvas 'experimental'. The transparent sails look VERY nice, they're my favourite, but come with a price: from certain perspectives you may notice weird occlusion effects/offset in depth. I can live with it.

Historical note: The Brig is a historic ship that comes with cannons and battle torn sails. Its use in modern (or WWII) times is certainly not correct. However, there are some tour agencies that operatate modern sailships of similar size. So the sight of a sailship is not all impossible. And who knows, there's rumours that Hollywood is filming the next sequel to «Pirates of the Carebbean»?
And if you spot an anchored sailship (maybe with black sails) just think of it as a touristic attraction...
BTW, the cruising ships have no cannons on board, makes them lighter and faster. Lighter applies to the poly count, too, what was the main reason why I removed them...

*** Important note: To see the ships slightly rocking in water the mission wind settings for 10m above sea level must be set to at least 3 m/s! ***

Apart from the ship folder that must go in Saved Games/DCSxyz/Mods/tech I included two 'Static Templates' to load a sample configuration of anchored and cruising ships with a couple of mouseclicks into any new or existing mission (in ME: EDIT/Load Static Template).
This sample configuration also comes in a mission file for the TF-51D.
Mission and Static Templates are configured for the Marianas Islands. But there's no reason why you couldn't use the 'Brig' for other terrains, like Normandy, The Channel, Syria ─ or even... Las Vegas. Feel free to share your missions and templates!

This Brig is part of my planned «Maug 1940» package (https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/291460-project-peacetime-additions-to-the-marianas/#comment-4873273). I pre-publish the Brig because its comprehensive game-use is cleared. See included license file.

v1.0
v1.1 Added moderate wake, front and aft. What seems appropriate for a sailship with no screws and an average speed of around 10 knots.
v1.2 Improved NORMALS and SPECS for sail canvas. Streamlined usage of all NORMALS and SPECS, now only very upclose (LOD0, 300m, some LOD1). Some changes to the Static Templates.
A second sample 'mission' file giving a quick overview of all 32 variants in box formation is now included.
Extract and overwrite all existing files.
v1.3 Small correction. A missing underscore led to not finding the hull's normal map, replacing it by the DCS checkerboard. You'd noticed it when passing the 300m perimeter.
