The Wisconsin Air National Guard began operating the A-10A in October of 1981, replacing the OA-37, and were based at Truax Field ANGB, in Madison, WI. A-10C, 78-0618 from the 124th Fighter Wing, Idaho National Guard. This A-10C was recently painted this olive drab "Heritage" scheme as a nod to the original "Thunderbolt", the P-47 Thunderbolt. I know there has since been crests added to the engine, but I am going to keep this livery in the "First Flight" configuration which had no marks on the engine. Weathered & worn, this American P-47D Thunderbolt is the workhorse of the WW2 Airforce fighters and has a confirmed 81 kills in aerial combat and 106 ground kills.
