The Bonnie Dick has come south to help out the Marines. On the schedule this morning is a single-ship hop in support of the small-boat Navy.

A pair of PBR's ran into contact on the south fork of the Long Sigh River, and two others are heading upriver right now, looking for more of that same trouble. You'll fly in support. Work with the boats and your airborne FAC to locate and destroy the enemy.

You have four Rockeyes and four cans of Zuni's. Put 'em to good use, protect our PBR's and try to avoid getting shot up yourself.

We're tasked tonight with a strike against the section of the Ho Chi Minh Trail that runs through the Long Sigh Valley.

You can fly with the Marines ashore or launch from USS Bon Homme Richard.

(Playing the part of Chu Lai: Batumi, Caucasus map. Playing the part of the Bonnie Dick: the Bonnie Dick.)

It will be dark by the time you arrive over the target. Reminder that the dark has rocks in it. Your terrain radar will be useful if you use it.

A flare ship (call sign ELECTRIC COMPANY) will precede you and light up any targets. Be careful not to descend below the altitude of the flares.

This mission is designed to allow practice of carrier launch and recovery procedures. Carrier aviation is a demanding environment, requiring constant practice and repetition to acquire and maintain the skills.

The scooter is quite demanding during carrier landing ops. Anticipate that you will be required to make continual small (hopefully small) corrections and power adjustments all the way around, with the workload increasing as you get closer to the ramp. Strive for accuracy and do your best to stay ahead of the airplane.  

The Bon Homme Richard seems pretty small compared to the Supercarriers in DCS, but the only part you need is the landing area--the same four wires you're trying to hit on the bigger ships. Call the ball and trap aboard, and earn your Wings of Gold.

This mission is designed to allow practice of carrier launch and recovery procedures. Carrier aviation is a demanding environment, requiring constant practice and repetition to acquire and maintain the skills.

Note: the enhanced FLOLS (meatball) is an overlay that comes with purchase of the Supercarrier module. If you do not have the enhanced FLOLS, the ICLS (instrument carrier landing system) is a useful substitute. Whether you use the ball or the needles, the goal is to stay on glideslope all the way to the wires, while maintaining ON SPEED AOA and correct lineup.

At the head of a valley, just outside of the Haiphong No Bomb Zone, sits the Long Bang chemical plant. At last we have got the okay to target it. To burn the whole place to the ground would surely ruin the enemy's day, and that is just what the USS Forrestal air group has been assigned to do.

This is a 16-plane strike. Three non-AI roles are available: Flakbuster or SAM Killer (air start), or Strike Bomber (cat launch).

Get in, get out, fly smart, and start some big fires.

With the Marines (VMA-131 Diamondbacks) at Chu Lai:

At oh-dark-thirty this morning, one of our river patrols came under fire from enemy infantry, including some heavy weapons. They got out all right, but came home with some new holes in the boat.

Two more boats are on their way upriver right now, looking for some more of the same kind of trouble. You're going to launch to provide air support. Work with the boats and with your airborne FAC to locate and destroy the enemy.

You have four cans of Zuni's on board, plus four Rockeyes. Put 'em to good use! Do your best to protect our boats, but try not to get yourself shot up.

Chow hall will be open when you get back.

Inspired by Iain Christie's (aka "Sidekick") excellent USMC A-4E scenarios, this mission returns to "Chu Lai" for a daytime strike against enemy supply lines. Specifically, there are some bridges in the Long Sigh Valley that are critical to the enemy's convoys. The bridges are small, but their importance is large. We need to drop those bridges.

You can fly with the Marines ashore (from "Chu Lai") or take off from USS Forrestal. (Playing the part of Chu Lai: Batumi, Caucasus map)

You'll need all your iron bombing skill for this. Get in, get out, fly smart. See you back at the boat.

Night is falling as you sit on the catapult, preparing to launch. Intelligence reports a high-value target deep in the Dao Jones Valley: a SAM logistics convoy on the move, heading for the Banh Minh* area.

A FAC is standing by. Get in the air and head for Point Alpha. It'll be dark by the time you get there, the FAC will send a flare ship in ahead of you. Hit that SAM convoy with everything you've got--but try not to run into a mountain in the process.

The USS Forrestal (CV-59) air group is tasked this afternoon with taking out a critical piece of the enemy logistics infrastructure at Banh Minh*: the infamous Dao Jones Bridge. The morning strike against the nearby MiG base appears to have been successful, so it's time for the main event. (* playing the role of Banh Minh: Batumi, Caucasus map)

If any MiGs do manage to get into the air, F-4's from VF-111 (Sundowners) are on hand as escort. Air defenses are limited to AAA, but there's plenty of it. Get in, get out, fly smart, and above all, make that bridge impassable.

This mission is part two of two parts. Part One was the strike against the airfield ("Runway Crater Crew").
