Corsair School is a full training campaign for the DCS F4U-1D Corsair, set in the WWII Pacific theater. Across 20 missions, you'll progress from cold starts and takeoffs to advanced gunnery, bombing, carrier ops, and division leadership. Learn to fly and fight using historically grounded procedures adapted for DCS—covering rockets, dive and level bombing, navigation, and dogfighting. The Battle of Saipan was the turning point in the US Central Pacific Campaign in WWII. The 318th Fighter Group's P-47s were the only ground support aircraft for three divisions and an artillery corps supporting the infantry. This campaign recreates the nine most important 318th FG missions.

It's early 1945 and the Essex carriers are testing out a new radar for detecting enemies.  The radars give bearing, but not distance.
Driven by my newest script, you will get reports from the two Essex carriers on which sector enemy ships and bandits are detected, in relation to each Essex.  Work the radios to listen to the Morse code from each Essex and see if you can triangulate the position of the enemy ships without using the F10 map.

But wait, that's not all!  You can also practice strafing aircraft sitting on Sapian, AAA on Rota, or spawning in Bandits.

Mission briefing: Operation "Typhoon Fury"
21st of June 1944, 08:00
Location: Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands

Situation:
US Marines and Army troops are fighting hard in the Mariana Islands. Japan still controls the northern part of Saipan, including a strategic airfield. The airfield is not operational but acts as the primary base for Japanese forces on Saipan. The enemy has established an artillery battery that is continuously shelling our positions and hindering our advance. Japanese air forces in the area are assessed to be weak but cannot be completely ruled out.

F4U-1D Vella Lavella Campaign (vs 1.2)

This campaign is loosely inspired in real events during the Salomons Island USMC campaign flying the F4U and some other historical events. Anyway, everything is fictional in the end, but a fun way to use the DCS F4U offline.

I learnt a lot about the Mission and Campaign Editors and the missions increase in their complexity. Do not be naive and think that mission 3 and 5 are the same, not even close and wait for surprises.

Finally, I though a 7(+1 on vs 1.2) mission campaign is enough, being 4 landing in a field and 4 landing in a Carrier.
