S-199.486, por. František Fořt, 1. letka, Letecký pluk 7, Brno-Černovice, Československo, 1950
Tohoto „Mezka“ zalétal tovární pilot Antonín Kraus 12. prosince 1949, 24. ledna 1950 byl letoun převzat vojenskou správou a 7. února téhož roku byl přidělen k LP 7 dislokovanému na letišti Brno-Černovice. Dostal kódové označení IV-8 a podle vzpomínek pamětníků a kroniky leteckého pluku také kresbu Diany s nataženým lukem. Autorkou kresby byla přítelkyně a později manželka zástupce velitele letky a velitele roje Františka Fořta. Podle pamětníků byly stejným emblémem opatřeny i stroje dalších dvou velitelů rojů, poručíků Jaromíra Jecha a Jiřího Váni. Jak je v kronice pluku uvedeno, různými emblémy bylo alespoň pro určitý čas opatřeno více strojů. Jsou v kronice dokonce nakresleny, není však jasné, k jakým konkrétním letounům se vztahují. Letoun byl již údajně opatřen nátěrem tmavší zelenou barvou na všech plochách. V té době příslušela letounům 3. letecké divize, pod kterou spadaly i brněnské LP 7 a LP 8, bílá barva vrtulového kužele. Ne všechny stroje však byly takto označeny a podle vzpomínek mezi ně pravděpodobně patřil také IV-8, jehož podoba bohužel není fotograficky doložena

Fighter Squadron 243 was Established in 1943 as Fighter Bomber Squadron 243. The "Shamrocks" as they were known would fly F4U Corsairs For much of their early career, Until upgrading to Jet fighters in the mid 1950s. In 1967, two F-4B Phantom II Fighters from VF-114 would shoot down a Sotoan MiG-21 that had intercepted and fired upon an Osean P-3 conducting Freedom of Navigation exercises in the region.

In 1974, VF-243, along with their sister squadron VF-206 'Shorebirds', would transition to the F-14A, a process taking two years to complete. By 1976 however they would rejoin Carrier Air Wing 8 with VF-206 Aboard the OFS Pelican. In 1994 with the retirement of the Pelican, 243 and 206 would be transferred aboard the brand new OFS Kestral flying with Carrier Air Wing 7, and flying combat missions supporting the vessel during the Belkan War.
