Library with DCS-ready and free-to-use mission assets of a special kind: A couple of historic sailships, a shipwreck, a rowboat, two wooden crates, a barrel and a ‹treasure› chest. ME ready assets with PBR materials and LODs. Demo mission included.
This Library contains rather unusual items:
• 2 historic sailships (each in two versions: one with with furled sails and one with sails fully hoisted).
The Dutch Large vessel also comes with 3 additional ‹liveries› that exchange the Dutch flag with a Spanish, French, or pirate flag ─ the latter comes with black sails
• a shipwreck
• an old rowboat
• a barrel and a couple of crates
• a ‹treasure› chest
All assets are free 3D models made DSC-ready by me in Blender. The sailships and the Chest are very detailed high-poly models with PBR materials. However, due to up to 6 LODs and DDS mipmap textures performance impact is neglectable.
Actually, for both ships I removed the LOD0 fr om my .lods definition file. For the experienced user: If you intend to walk on the ships or make close-up screenshots you can exchange the .lods with the one you find in a zip file.
Now for the good thing:
All original 3D models have been published under Creative Commons License. That means you may freely use them in your missions and templates, even the ones that you publish (giving credits is always a good idea). Detailed information on creators and publishing platforms are in a CREDITS file within the package.
For the newbies I created a small ‹display› mission wh ere two flotilla formation of Dutch Large ships and Dutch Leusden ships endlessly circle Rota Island. There’s also a number of individual ships on their route. Plus all along all coasts many anchored ships with furled sails. And at the small port in the Southwest of the island you can find the rest of the assets. On mission startup there’s a choice of piston aircraft, the free TF-51D is on top.
In ME you’ll find the two ships as vessels, where all the rest resides in ‹structures›.
Installation: Unpack into your Saved Games/DCS folder (‹extract here› ─ don’t create a folder with the package’s name).
De-Installation: Simply delete the _J-1775_Sailships-Lib folder in ‹tech› and the mission file in the ‹mission› folder.
