Early in 1944 the Allies conducted a series of operations to fool the German Command into believing that the eminent invasion would take place across the short channel between England and Calais France. Operation Bodyguard included counterintelligence, fake inflatable armies set up top look like a marshaling invasion force, and very real air raids on the German forces in the region.
