Operation Ilois was a secret, off-the-books, Special Boat Service mission to capture four Taliban commanders in the Lower Sangin Valley in Helmand Province in 2006. The mission was a failure and the SBS convoy was ambushed by 70+ fighters on its return leg. Out in the open with only irrigation ditches for cover, the SBS and Special Recon Regiment fought for over an hour while a make-shift Quick Reaction Force was dispatched from Gereshk some 10 miles south of them. Nearby air assets - namely British Harriers and American A-10s - were re-tasked to provide Close Air Support while the QRF fought its way through. An AH-64 and CH-47 were also dispatched from Camp Bastion.

With accurate geography and ground units, as well as voice actors, this mission allows you to re-tell this story. You'll play as either the A-10, AH-64, or CH-47 either alone (with AI support) or with friends, and provide air cover for the QRF as it makes its way through.

This mission is a toned down version of the normal Kola A2A map I’ve uploaded in that the enemies are earlier air-frames such as the Mig-15bis, Mig-21, Mig-19 ect. This mission is designed for the smaller and older planes in DCS you can fly the C101-CC, Mig-15bis, Mig-19P, Mig-21Bis, MB-339A, L-39ZA, Mirage F1-CE, Mirage F1-EE, Mirage F1-BE, F-5-E3, F-86F, and F-4E-45MC. The Phantoms and Mirages may be a bit overkill for the enemies at hand but feel free to change load-outs. This mission focuses on air to air combat but one or 2 of the airframes focus on ground attack. Recommend installing mods in description to play as intended.

In this first mission in the Hornet/Tomcat focussed missions, we begin our campaign to force Tropico to capitulate, and end their harassment of other free Caribbean nations.

Our tasking for todays mission is the destruction of Tropicos older, but threatening carrier group, sheltering and re-supplying inside a small archipeligo.
