In 1973, the Janosian Defense Agency announced its interest in purchasing a replacement for its F-104 & F-4E interceptors. Initially, the F-15 was evaluated and initially chosen as the replacement, however Osean Congressional oversight blocked the deal forcing the initial purchase to go to the F-14A proposal for the Janosian Air Self Defense Force (JASDF).
License built, the F-14AJ would be nearly identical to the Osean and Emmerian F-14A Block 95, With the 202nd TFS and 405th TFS adopting the Airframe until the production was canceled in 1982 in favor of the F-15J.
Today Janosia still maintains its F-14AJ fleet as interceptors and light Reconnaissance aircraft. While there have been block upgrades suggested to the fleet, currently the aircraft are some of the oldest flying examples of the type, only being modernized somewhat in 2010. The fleet is expected to stay with Janosia until 2027, with reports suggesting Adygea may purchase the fleet to bolster its own Air Defense Force.
