F-14A BuNo 161274 as flown by the Black Aces in 2000/2001.
This is the CAG Aircraft which was less colorful than the XO Bird.

Buno 161274 has first seen service in May '81 with VF-1 Wolfpack.
It joined VF-211 in May '88, then VF-154 in August '89, to VF-213 in January '91.
Next to VF-24 in August '95, back to VF-211 in July '96 and over to VF-41 in August 2000.
From there on it went to VF-101 in January 2002 with one final visit to VF-211 in March 2004.
In August of 2004 it was transfered to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group.

"By 1989, the large flash on the vertical tail, that had been part of VF-14's original markings for it's Tomcats, again became a standard part of the "Tophatters" markings. But in keeping with the low-visibility markings on the tactical paint scheme, the flash and its outline were different shades of gray. "In 1989, the "Tophatters" celebrated their seventieth anniversary as an active squadron in the Navy by painting special markings on their CAG and commander's Tomcats. This is the CAG Tomcat, BuNo. 162700, showing those markings. The aircraft is painted in the overall Light Gull Gray scheme and it has colorful national insignias and stenciling.
