SITUATION
Insurgents in the rough mountains north of the Jvari-Inguri Reservoir have increased their activity in recent weeks. Operating from a currently unknown location, they have captured Khaishi village, pushed down the reservoir road, and established a surveillance radar atop the Inguri dam. From this position they have early warning of any counter attack.
A Georgian mechanized force has been formed to clear the reservoir area and retake Khaishi. A US Army combat aviation regiment, on a training deployment to Zugdidi, has been tasked to support the Georgian army strike force.
While all this is going on, intelligence will attempt to locate the insurgent stronghold, somewhere among the small mountain villages in the region.
