BACKGROUND
In recent years, tension between the Eastern Bloc and the Western Bloc has grown exponentially.
Following the failure of the latest negotiations between the two sides, the GDR once again unilaterally closed the West Berlin Air Corridors (preventing the transport of goods destined for Allied Berlin through the territory of the GDR)
As a result, the Western Bloc once again resorted to transporting food and supplies using the air corridors established in 1948, which had been so successful during the previous ground blockades by the GDR.
However, on this occasion, the Eastern Bloc's response was to completely close the airspace around Berlin, thus preventing the launch of goods over the capital and further escalating the unstable situation.
CURRENT SITUATION
Last week, one of our transport aircraft was shot down near Berlin while attempting to parachute several pallets of cargo into West Berlin.
The GDR has not officially claimed responsibility for the incident, arguing that they were merely preventing several "packages illegally dropped into its airspace" from reaching the ground, and that the destruction of our transport aircraft was likely due to a mechanical failure.
Following these recent events, the Allied High Command has decided to retaliate and strike a blow at the GDR's air logistics capability.
This will hamper the ability to deploy combat patrols over the airspace surrounding Berlin and within the air corridor.
MISSION OBJECTIVES
The objective of this mission is to destroy the main jet fuel storage area, which supplies fighter aircraft blocking access to Berlin airspace. This storage area is located deep within GDR territory, near the eastern sector of Berlin.
Therefore, you will fly a deep strike mission, flying at no more than 300 feet to avoid early detection by air defense radars.
Once you reach the IP (WP2), altitude restrictions will be lifted, although you must proceed with extreme caution to avoid being shot down by anti-aircraft defenses present near the target (WP3)
Additionally, as a diversionary maneuver, our forces will conduct a fighter sweep against any hostile aircraft within the northern Air Corridor leading to Berlin. This will help prevent the enemy from detecting your incursion to destroy the target.
Once you destroy the target, continue your flight plan again, flying at low altitude, and return to RFA territory as quickly as possible.
If you are intercepted while entering or exiting the target, the rules of engagement are "weapons free". However, keep in mind that your priority is to return and that you can easily find yourself outnumbered if you delay too long.
