Fictional ISAF F-5E Skin

While the San Salvacion Air Force was never the largest in Usea, Many of its pilots were the first to lose their lives in the opening hours of the Continental War to the Erusean Military. Pushed out of their own country, scattered and largely disorganized, the rapidly formed Independent States Allied Force had the unenviable task of reorganizing a quasi-resistance force into a standing military.
The 56th Fighter Squadron was born from that organization. Primarily fielding F-5E Tiger’s that were able to escape, or were outside of San Salvacion before it fell; the squadron would be primarily deployed to forward air bases to help secure the airspace for ISAF Ground units from localized air threats. Their target of choice was the Mi-24 ‘Hind’ Gunships that Erusea fielded during the war. Using their 20mm Cannons and four AIM-9 Sidewinder Missiles, the light and agile fighters proved to be superior hit-and-run fighters against what the Eruseans had dubbed “the flying tank”. While the exact date was never recorded, by the time of the Bunker Shot landings, they had earned the title of ‘Hind Hunters’.
As losses increased, Pilots from other occupied nations would fill in the ranks, as well as Lent-leased airframes from Belka and Osea primarily would fill in for missing aircraft. Of the thirty pilots who formed the squadron, many would lose their lives and only a handful of the original San Salvacion Air Force F-5’s themselves would survive to the end of the war.
