This mission script creates a dynamic, replayable helicopter insertion and extraction environment focused on precision urban landings under pressure, rather than large-scale combat. It is designed primarily for the MH-6J free helicopter mod. It might work with other helicopters, but it was not tested with any.
The scenario is set around Ghazni, with a friendly heliport in the south and insurgent-controlled urban districts to the north, separated by a visual and tactical “Grey Belt.” Each sortie is procedurally generated, ensuring no two runs play the same.

This YouTube video provides a situation briefing, explains the passenger loading and unloading mechanics, and demonstrates a sample insertion and extraction: https://youtu.be/-PxYfveQssM

>>> What it does <<<
✅ Automatically detects the player helicopter
   - An MH-6J is parked in spot 3 at the heliport.
   - Any blue coalition, player-controlled helicopter is detected at mission start.
   - No unit name editing required.
✅ Randomly assigns INSERTION or EXTRACTION tasks
   - INSERTION: arrive heavy, depart light
   - EXTRACTION: arrive light, depart heavy
   - Passenger count (1–6) and job type are randomized and announced.
✅ Generates realistic urban LZs using scenery analysis
   - Landing zones are selected from actual urban buildings inside insurgent-controlled areas.
   - No predefined LZs or markers – every task requires visual acquisition.
✅ Provides bearing & distance navigation
   - Bearing and distance to the LZ are calculated dynamically.
   - Magnetic variation is applied for realism.
   - Task info can be recalled via an in-cockpit Mission Menu at any time.
✅ Simulates troop loading and unloading
   - Troops are represented as static cargo objects.
   - Aircraft weight is dynamically adjusted based on passenger count.
   - Boarding and unloading are player-triggered via the Rearming and Refuelling menu..
✅ Triggers LZ smoke dynamically
   - Green smoke is deployed automatically when approaching the LZ.
   - Trigger distance is randomized each sortie to avoid predictability.
✅ Introduces restrained but unpredictable threats
   - Insurgent patrols, technicals, sporadic indirect fire, and explosions are randomized.
   - Mortar fire may bracket or impact near the LZ with advance warning.
   - Threats emphasize decision-making and timing, not saturation.
✅ Creates a living urban battlefield atmosphere
   - Randomized fires, smoke columns, and explosions across the city.
   - Activity evolves independently of the player’s exact task.
✅ Damage awareness without over-modeling
   - Helicopter health is monitored continuously.
   - Co-pilot voice-style messages escalate from minor damage to critical state.
   - Focus remains on pilot judgment rather than systems micromanagement.
✅ Realistic RTB and parking logic
   - After task completion, the player is instructed to RTB Ghazni.
   - Tower assigns a random parking spot on approach.
   - Ground support vehicles spawn dynamically at the assigned spot.
   - Vehicles despawn automatically when no longer relevant.
✅ Continuous mission loop
   - Once parked, the mission resets automatically.
   - A new task is generated after a short delay.
   - No mission reload required.

>>> How it plays <<<
1. Start at Ghazni Heliport
2. MANDATORY: IF CHANGING THE HELICOPTER, PLACE IT AT MAP SPOT 3.
3. Receive a randomly generated INSERTION or EXTRACTION task
4. Navigate north across the Grey Belt using bearing & distance
5. Identify the LZ visually and execute a precision landing
6. Load or unload troops under time pressure and threat uncertainty
7. RTB, park as instructed, and prepare for the next sortie
8. Abort decisions are encouraged when the situation deteriorates.

>>> Design philosophy <<<
This script emphasizes:
   - Precision flying over firepower
   - Urban landing discipline
   - Randomness without chaos
   - Atmosphere and immersion
   - Replayability over scripted outcomes
   - Threats are intentionally asymmetric, intermittent, and unpredictable, encouraging smart approaches, short ground times, and realistic go/no-go
decisions—closely reflecting the decision-making and risk management typical of real-world SOF helicopter operations.
