It's early 1945 and the Essex carriers are testing out a new radar for detecting enemies.  The radars give bearing, but not distance.
Driven by my newest script, you will get reports from the two Essex carriers on which sector enemy ships and bandits are detected, in relation to each Essex.  Work the radios to listen to the Morse code from each Essex and see if you can triangulate the position of the enemy ships without using the F10 map.

But wait, that's not all!  You can also practice strafing aircraft sitting on Sapian, AAA on Rota, or spawning in Bandits.

v2: Non-Essex blue ships were also reporting sectors - FIXED
v3: Essex's radars have been upgraded and will now detect bandits as well
v5: Updated script which gives sectors based on the sector chart update that came out 8/13/2025 (sectors rotated 15 degrees)
v6: Forgot to also update the briefing image with the new sector chart.  No other changes.

Now, the briefing...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bullseye reference is the land spawn point, Ushi Airfield.

Sorry, but there was no GPS in 1945.  You won't see anything on the F10 map.  You'll have to navigate like a true airman!
-----------------------------------------------------
TARGETS:
1. Some enemy planes sitting at Kagman (Bulls 060 for 9).  Nothing will shoot at you.
2. Bandits spawn in the air via F10 menu action.  They'll start over Rota and fly north towards Saipan to look for you.
3. Enemy ships spawn in via the F10 menu, and are hidden from the F10 map.
4. You may use the F10 menu to ask the Essex carriers for a radar picture as help for locating the enemies.  These primitive radars only give rough bearing (Essex sectors), but no altitude, speed or direction of the contacts.
5.  Any ship that is not an Essex carrier is an enemy!
6 . AAA located all over Rota Island.  Fly around and you are cleared hot on anything that opens fire towards you.
-----------------------------------------------------
ESSEX CARRIERS:
Two of six possible carriers will randomly spawn in each time you start this mission.  Their IDs, which are picked up by the Corsair's AAR-2 navigation radio, give the approximate location of the carrier relative to Saipan.  For example, carrier "NW" is northwest of Saipan, "EST" is east of Saipan, etc.
-----------------------------------------------------
FREQUENCIES:
Essex Carrier "EST":  121 (Corsair preset ch.1)
Essex Carrier "WST": 122 (Corsair preset ch.2)
Essex Carrier "NE":   123  (Corsair preset ch.3)
Essex Carrier "SW":  124 (Corsair preset ch.4)
Essex Carrier "SE":    125 (Corsair preset ch.5)
Essex Carrier "NW":  126 (Corsair preset ch.6)
-----------------------------------------------------
OTHER:
Fog changes to random setting every 5 minutes, and can be controlled via F10 menu.
