The 389th Fighter Squadron operated F-86 Sabres from 1953-1955 while stationed at Alexandria Air Force Base in Louisiana. During this time, the squadron had two deployments to France. Alexandria AFB was renamed to England AFB after Lt. Col. John England crashed near Toul-Rosières Air Base in France due to poor weather on his return flight from gunnery practice.
