It is 12 June 1944. The 101st Airborne Division has taken Carentan (see HBO's "Band of Brothers") and the ground forces from Utah and Omaha beaches are now linked after six days ashore.
Now, the 17th SS Panzergrenadier Division is approaching from the south to attempt a counterattack to again split the American forces. IX Tactical Air Command has been assigned to stop the German counterattack.
You are a flight leader in the 405th Fighter Group tasked with searching out and destroying the German armored unit south of Carentan before it can launch its attack.
