There are many ways to die in the harsh northern expanses near Fensalir, Emmeria. Between the drifting ice sheets, blinding super-blizzards and unforgiving wilderness, many wouldn’t fault a wayward explorer or lost military patrol to succumbing to the Razgriz. However, if you happen to be a surface to air missileer, there is one more threat the north has to offer.

The 128th “Big Irons” Fighter squadron.

Hailing from Fensalir Air Base, just south of the Straits is one of the only Air National Guard units of the Emmerian Air Force to specialize in the Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) or more affectionately known as “Wild Weasel” by its pilots. Despite flying largely obsolete F-4 Phantoms; The Big Irons are deadly efficient with their array of AGM-45 ‘Shrike’s, Mark-82 ‘Snake-eye’ bombs, or the AGM-88 HARM thanks to their recently acquired F/A-18 Hornets.

Whether the threat be in the air or on the ground, rest assured the Big Irons are deadly no matter what adorns their fighter

With the total Annexation complete in the early 1990s, North Osea was granted the then long deactivated 109th Airlift Squadron along with the 176th Wing, however no aircraft or personnel would be assigned until mid 1995 with the capture of three Belkan Air Force C-130Hs. The Squadron would only barely participate in the Belkan War, flying one MEDEVAC sortie in the last week of the fighting. During the drawdown phase following, the 109th 'Morning Stars' would receive half a dozen more C-130s captured from the Belkan Air Force and pressed into Osean Service, using these aircraft to ferry troops out and supplies into the war-torn country.

In 1999, the Morningstars would deploy to Usea, bringing much needed humanitarian aid during the Ulysses Disaster, and again in 2006 Following the end of the Continental War.

Today the Morningstars still operate from Sudentor and are to be one of the first Air Guard squadrons to receive the C-130J Super Hercules.

An obscure squadron quietly conducting mission's from their base in South Estovakia; until the Ulysses Disaster. While the aircraft were stored in hardened bunkers, a near impact entombed the base and its inhabitants with ejected rock and debris. Economic struggles hampered the bases recovery efforts, and with the onset of civil war apparent in 2006, the unit's aircraft were abandoned.

Following the Eastern Factions victory in 2013 however, and in desperate need of replacement aircraft, the Tomcats of the 122nd were unearthed and the squadron reactivated, coming to Emmerian Military Intelligence's attention in 2014.

Today the 122nd has been transferred to the Central Precinct awaiting a special military operation planned by the Estovakian Military

With the conclusion of the Belkan War, Osea and its Allies were left with an overabundance of captured fighters from the defeated Belkan Air Force. Following the Sale of Many squadrons of Mig-21 and Flanker series aircraft to Oseas neighbor Ustio, the OADF was left in a peculiar situation, having over forty Mig-29 Fulcrums with no buyer or need for the aircraft. The answer came from North Oseas military Governor, Lieutenant General Nathan Ozawa.

It was under his recommendation that a new Fighter Wing be hosted in North Osea for the future security of the reason, using existing resources available. On December 8th 1997 the 177th Fighter Wing was formally established with two squadrons, the 173rd Fighter Squadron “Falke” flying the 28 MiG-29A fighters, and 96th Fighter Squadron “Adler” flying the dozen more advanced MiG-29G fighters.

the VF-12 Knights have a long history within the Osean Maritime Defense Forces, starting with the units inception flying the TBM Avenger Torpedo Bomber as VT-12, before redesignating as Fighter Squadron 12 when they recieved the F-9 Cougar for conflicts in Southern Verusea. It wasn't long before the Knights found themselves as the first of the Last Gunfighters, operating the F-8 Crusader in successful raids against Yuktobanian and Valkan targets. A well established service history made the squadron one of the first to receive the brand-new F-14 Tomcat in the summer of 1972.

VF-12 along with their sister squadron VF-83 "Warhawks" would go on to serve during the 1977 Adama Uprising, the Knights would earn one Air to air victory in the conflict,  shooting down a rebel F-14, and help support pro-Osean forces in the tense thirteen week standoff.

Since then, the Knights have forged a legacy of excellence and bravery with their Tomcats as their noble steeds.

Established as Advanced Training Unit two in August of 1973 at Naval Air Station Burgen, the squadron would train students in TA-4 Skyhawk Jet trainers to prepare Osean Maritime Defense Force students for more advanced A-7, F-4 and F-14 naval fighters, and then later the F/A-18 Hornet as it entered Naval service nearly a decade later.

Today, VT-2 flies the T-45 Goshawk training future OMDF and Marine aviators, as well as Aviators of allies to the Osean Federation. Naval and Marine students are selected from the top performing students from their primary training units flying the T-6B at either Naval Station Lakeshore or Naval Station Cayuga

Established in 1974, the 962nd "Red Hawks" Air Airborne Control Squadron started out flying the EC-121 Warning Star until 1986 when the first Active Duty E-3 Sentrys within the OADF were pushed to Air Guard service in favor of the new E-767.

The squadron would serve with distinction during the 1995 Belkan War, and in support of the no-fly-zone operations that followed.

Today the Red Hawks are down to a final two Airframes, lovingly dubbed "Electric Eye" and "Heimdall" which stubbornly remain as the last few examples of the 707 derivative flying to this day.
