Established in 1952, the 73rd Fighter Squadron "Gorgons" began their career as a Air Reserve Combat Squadron flying F-82F Sabres. Deploying multiple times, the Gorgons would distinguish themselves in combat, destroying multiple enemy aircraft in various conflicts.

In 1964, the Squadron would then transfer into the F-4 Phantom aircraft, ending their tenure in the Phantom by deploying to support the Osean Forces deployed during the Adama Incident a decade later.

In 1975, the squadron would transition into the F-16A as the OADF Reserves training squadron. Stationed at Milford Air Base, the Squadron would not see active service until 1995, flying various defense sorties near November City in conjunction with the Califia Air Guards 411th Fighter Squadron.

In 2019, the squadron would be deactivated following a disastrous first contact with Erusean Drones in the opening hours of the Lighthouse War.

These words are written above the doorway leading into the Naval Air Combat Weapons School, colloquially known as Fighter Weapons School,by the students and cadre who attend. Students come to NAS Mesa Verde four times a year and spend eight weeks being taught by some of the best tactics instructors in the Emmerian Military. Pilots learn both in the classroom and in the cockpit how to counter the various threats that the Emmerian military may face in the near and far future, and will go back to their own squadrons as in house instructors to teach the skills they have honed.

Multiple VF-18 Squadron’s have existed in the history of the OMDF, however the Navy does not recognize a shared lineage between them.

VF-18 Pirates were established in 1967 flying the F-4J with Carrier Air Wing 12 aboard the OFS Hubert. Serving at the tail end of the Clavis Conflict, the Pirates and their sister squadron, the VF-85 "Red Arrows", would not see action until the Adama Island Rebellion, where Phantoms from the Hubert would fly in support of Quarantine measures against the Island.

In 1985, the Squadron would transition to the F-14B Tomcat. While serving on the Hubert, the Pirates would deploy to Usea and Southern Verusa, conducting Freedom of Navigation exercises against unfriendly powers in both regions.

VF-85 "Red Arrows" was established in 1967, flying the F-4J. Assigned to Carrier Air Wing 12 aboard the OFS Hubert, the squadron would serve with their sister unit, VF-18 "Pirates" during the final weeks of the Clavis Conflict, though the Huberts Air Wing would not see any action at this time.

It would not be until the Adama Island Rebellion where Red Arrows Phantoms were critical in the landing operations,  warning off repeated rebel air attacks on the Pro-Government forces landing on the island.

In 1985, the Red Arrows along with the Pirates were slated to transition into the F-14B, however midway through the training the Osean Maritime Defense Force deactivated the unit, with aircrews and aircraft assigned to pre-existing F-14 Squadrons.

Established in 1942 as the 194th Heavy Bomber Squadron, the Grizzlies flew B-17G’s until the Airframes retirement in 1955. Following this, the 194th would be redesignated briefly as an Airlift unit flying C-97 Stratofreighters until finally transitioning to the KC-135A In 1960. In 1990, following concerns about the longevity of the Stratotanker, the Califia Air National Guard successfully petitioned to become one of the few units to receive the Air Defense Forces’ newest frontline Tanker, the KC-10 Extender.

It would not be long until the Grizzlies would put their new aircraft to the test. Flying hundreds of sorties during the 1995 Belkan War and again in 1997 with a detachment of KC-10’s deploying to Usea to support peacekeeping operations in the region.

Today the Grizzlies stand alert in November City, awaiting their nation's call.

Emboldened by the Maritime Defense Force’s early successes with the F-14, it was only a matter of time for the air arm of the Osean Marine Corps to purchase their own Tomcats. The first Marine aviators would be sent to the RAG in mid 1974, while purchase agreements were finalized between the Marines and vendors.

The first squadron of Tomcats that would be stood up by the Marines would be. VMF-24, otherwise known as the “Dragons”. With the first half dozen of pilots arriving back from VF-228 in late 1975, the squadron would not reach IOC until 1977, a full year after their sister squadron on the west coast VMF-78 “Dapper Dressed Killers”. The Dragons would see an early deployment in May of 1978, to Southern Osea, helping to deter Leasath aggression from Osean trade reaching the country's long-time rival of Aurelia.

The Dragons would deploy various times in the 1980s and 1990s, and would participate in the Belkan War, providing air support to landing operations during the conflict.

Owing to the large amount of Wildfires that routinely burn across Califia’s more forested regions, in 1974 an unconventional unit was proposed. While on paper, the 144th Airlift Squadron is not unlike any other C-130 unit within the Osean Air Defense Force, where the ‘Fire Eaters’ earned their name in their unconventional mission. Instead of the standard gray adorning most Osean cargo aircraft, the Fire Eaters C-130H’s are bright white and red, and their primary mission is that of Aerial firefighting.

Partnering initially with civilian water bomber organizations, the 144th would learn the Air Attack mission to support firefighters on the ground battling the blazes. Capable of holding 3000 gallons of flame retardant, the C-130 with the Modular Airborne FireFighting System (MAFFS) proved a valuable resource almost immediately with the 1976 Los Palmas fire, that had overwhelmed local resources until the Califia Air National Guard was activated and aided in containing the blaze.

VF-228 "Headhunters" is one of the Osean Maritime Defense Force's Fleet Replacement Squadron’s for the F-14 Tomcat. Now assigned to Readiness Carrier Air Wing 4, The Headhunters would have an extensive Combat career in the 1960s flying the F-4B, and later F-4J, Phantom while attached to Carrier Air Wing 9.

In 1970 with the official adoption of the Tomcat into the OMDF, VF-228 was selected to be one of the training units for the aircraft, for both Osean and foreign pilots.

The first class of students would graduate at the end of 1971, and be transferred into VF-616, VF-206, VF-243, VF-14 and VF-12. As well as various foreign air forces.

Today the Headhunters boast the largest collection of Tomcats assigned to a single squadron with over forty aircraft at NAS Shiloh.

There are many ways to die in the harsh northern expanses near Fensalir, Emmeria. Between the drifting ice sheets, blinding super-blizzards and unforgiving wilderness, many wouldn’t fault a wayward explorer or lost military patrol to succumbing to the Razgriz. However, if you happen to be a surface to air missileer, there is one more threat the north has to offer.

The 128th “Big Irons” Fighter squadron.

Hailing from Fensalir Air Base, just south of the Straits is one of the only Air National Guard units of the Emmerian Air Force to specialize in the Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD) or more affectionately known as “Wild Weasel” by its pilots. Despite flying largely obsolete F-4 Phantoms; The Big Irons are deadly efficient with their array of AGM-45 ‘Shrike’s, Mark-82 ‘Snake-eye’ bombs, or the AGM-88 HARM thanks to their recently acquired F/A-18 Hornets.

Whether the threat be in the air or on the ground, rest assured the Big Irons are deadly no matter what adorns their fighter
