The 527th Aggressor Squadron, creatively known as the “Aggressors”, was a key tactical training unit to USAF forces in Europe. Stationed at RAF Bentwaters in the UK and flying the F-16C, the squadron was critical at emulating Soviet threats in the waning days of the Cold War from 1988-1990.

Formed in 1976 out of RAF Alconbury, the 527th TFTAS, under the 10th TFW, initially used the F-5E tigers in “Red Bear” patterns for dissimilar air combat training against NATO forces over East Anglia. With shifts in foreign policy, the unit would relocate to Bentwaters with newer F-16C’s from squadrons located in Germany.

Following their full reassignment to now 12 F-16s, the squadron would resume DACT duties in 1988 hosting a variety of allied squadrons for exercises such as Team Spirit  and Green Flag. The Fall of the Wall in 1989 would spell the end for the unit, as in late 1990 the squadron would be deactivated, its legacy carried forward through to the 527th Space Aggressor Squadron.

The North American F-86F Sabre was the definitive variant of the famed Korean War jet fighter, representing the peak of USAF swept-wing design in the early Cold War. Entering service in the early 1950s, the F-86F featured a more powerful J47-GE-27 engine, an “all-flying” tail, and a larger, refined wing for greater maneuverability and high-altitude performance. Armed with six .50-caliber M3 machine guns and capable of carrying bombs or rockets, the Sabre served as both a nimble air-superiority fighter and a versatile fighter-bomber. In Korea, the F-86F cemented its legend against the MiG-15, achieving an estimated 10:1 kill ratio through superior pilot training and technology. Beyond combat, it served worldwide as the USAF’s primary frontline jet through the mid-1950s, later transitioning to Air National Guard units. The F-86F’s blend of speed, agility, and reliability made it a cornerstone of early American jet aviation and a symbol of U.S. airpower.

Activated in 1944 and distinguishing themselves in the Second Osean War flying P-38’s, the Death Dealers would once again be called to serve multiple times in the 1960’s and 1970’s during the Clavis Conflict, flying F-4D and later F-4E Phantoms in Interdiction and bombing missions. They would be one of the first to utilize laser-guided munitions against the Yuktobanian backed East Clavis forces, and would end the war with 3 Aces and a combined thirty aerial victories. Following the war they would return to their main duty station of Jinsan Air Base with the 95th Fighter Wing.

In 1976 the Squadron would receive the F-15A, and later the F-15C Air Superiority Fighter, becoming one of the first foreign based Units to receive the aircraft.

Today the squadron still operates, conducting missions during the Circum-Pacific war from Jinsan, scoring four victories for the squadron.

VF-84 “Jolly Rogers” is a legendary unit within the annals of US Naval Aviation History. Established in 1943 during the Second War, the squadron would cut their teeth flying the F4U ‘Corsair’ onboard the USS Bunker Hill, ending the war with 47 victories against Japanese fighters, and hundreds more against Imperial Japanese targets during the war.

During the interwar period and into Korea, the squadron would evolve with the rest of the US Navy, flying the F6F Hellcat and entering the Jet-age with the F9F Panther. During much of the Vietnam war the squadron would once again operate the F-4, in this case the Supersonic Phantom, and in 1975 would receive the jet the squadron would most-be-associated with, the F-14 Tomcat.

The Jolly Rogers would serve aboard the USS Nimitz, and was seen in film on the set of “The Final Countdown” (1980). Well known for their Pirate motif, the squadron’s legacy would carry on well past its retirement with VF-103, who now operate the F/A-18F Super Hornet.

The 163rd Fighter Squadron “Blacksnakes" is part of the Indiana Air National Guard’s 122nd Fighter Wing at Fort Wayne ANGB, traces its heritage to the WWII-era 365th Fighter Squadron, re-designated and federally recognized on December 9, 1946 at Stout Field, Indianapolis. Over its history, the squadron has flown the F-51 Mustang, F-80 Shooting Star, F-86 Sabre, F-84F Thunderstreak, F-100 Super Sabre, F-4 Phantom, and F-16 Fighting Falcon. In 1997, it adopted the “Blacksnakes” nickname, replacing “Marksmen.” In 2005, it gained the Theater Airborne Reconnaissance System mission. Transitioning in 2010, the unit flew A-10C Thunderbolt IIs, deploying in 2014 to Afghanistan. Authorized by the FY2023 NDAA, the squadron transitioned back to F-16C/D Block 40s, with aircraft arriving in October 2023. Today, the 163rd FS continues to uphold its legacy of air defense, tactical excellence, and rapid response for state and federal missions.

With Japan’s Adoption of the F-4EJ in 1968, the Aircraft would become a mainstay of the island-nation’s defense strategy for years until the procurement of the F-15J and F-2A, rapidly moving the airframe from a front-role fighter to a mixed-use fighter-bomber, and reconnaissance aircraft.

Following the opening of the portal in Tokyo in 2016, the Japanese Self Defense Force would establish a long-term operational presence on the other side of the ‘Gate’. Using the older Cold-War era F-4 Phantoms, the JSDF Force on the other side was able to quickly establish air dominance in the region against the inferior indigenous airborne forces. The Phantoms assigned to the Region found some notoriety during an operation to slay a Flame-Dragon that had been harassing JSDF Forces in the region, as well as precision strikes against ‘Imperial’ forces in the region.

The Aircraft were abandoned in the Special Region following the evacuation of JSDF Personnel and closing of the Gate in 2017.

Formed in 1975, the 378th Tactical Fighter Squadron “Blue Dragons” of the Stafford Air National Guard has long balanced tradition with innovation. Originally flying the F-4E Phantom II, the squadron specialized in maritime strike and precision interdiction, a role that became its hallmark. In the early 2000s, the Blue Dragons transitioned to the F-2A, whose advanced radar, electronic warfare systems, and long-range anti-ship capabilities perfectly suited their mission. As one of the few ANG units equipped for maritime strike, the squadron regularly trains with Osean Naval forces, integrating airpower into coastal and fleet defense operations. While their primary task remains anti-ship warfare and precision strike, the 378th also maintains a robust multirole capability, able to switch seamlessly to air defense or close air support. With their trademark discipline and adaptability, the Blue Dragons continue to safeguard Osean waters and skies while standing ready to deploy abroad.
