This is her story.
It's 1946. You are grounded at a desk job while stationed in West Germany when you
get lucky and find this 'slightly used' Bf-109K-4 hidden in a hanger at a small regional
airport.
Your C/O owes you for saving his skin when a crowd of hungry Germans get their
hands on him after your outfit messed up a food drop at their village. He agrees
to look the other way while you figure out export logistics for this rare find.
You quickly paint the Bf-109 red all over, with some barn paint and a brush, barely
covering the Luftwaffe's former markings, then, you manage to fly it into Spain where
you know an agent who will ship the plane in a container to Texas.
Your cousin in Texas picks it up fr om the docks a month later and has the container
trucked to his farm wh ere he keeps it safe for you until you return home from your
tour in Germany.
A year later, you return to Texas and begin preparing the plane for the upcoming
air-race. After checking her over thoroughly, there isn't much time before the race,
so, another quick paint job with some checkers and stripes spruces her up a bit.
Alas, you can still see those pesky German markings showing through the cheap paint,
maybe no one will notice.....
Ironically, the plane gets destroyed in a barn fire that night, and now all you have is
a photo taken the day before.... so sad, she never even got a name :(

The project began as an experiment in skinning and it took me a long time after
several re-makes to get this result, for better or for worse, but I thought it looked
ok, maybe good enough to share, so I hope you like it.
There is a freeflight test mission included in the Missions folder. Private airport on Guam,
Marianas, ready for taxi, late afternoon, 5kt crosswind.
Enjoy,
