This is an updated livery (2.0) of the John McCain A-4E Skyhawk (149959) he was flying when he was shot down over Vietnam in 1967. New livery icludes better details and weathering. The livery itself is from the U.S. Navy attack squadron VA-163 Saints. Only difference from the original is the "LCDR JOHN McCAIN" name tag added under the cockpit to denote his final rank in the Navy. RIP John and fly on.

Situation
As the battle rages on the Western front near Sochi-Adler, Georgia, with her NATO allies, has decided to open a second front to the North. A large number of Russian medium and long-range bombers have been moved to Mozdok airbase. Our plan is to destroy these bombers on the ground this evening.

You will conduct a surprise attack on 2 SAM sites before ordering the ground strike.

Russian and Syrian armored and air defense ground forces, which have grown increasingly hostile to Turkey over the last few weeks, have begun moving between Syria and Damascus along the DAMASCUS ALEPPO INTERNATIONAL WAY HIghway. (DAIW) Intel analysis suggests the movement may very well indicate a planned cross border offensive into the Taftanaz airport sector in SW Turkey.

TANKERS SHELL: TACAN=2X, Preset 2 VHF/135 am @ 15,000' KC135 OPERATING NEAR HATAY ARCO: TACAN=3X, PRESET 3 VHF/136AM @20,000 KC135 OPERATING NEAR INCIRLIK • AWACS MAGIC: 265 am PRESET 3 UNIFORM BULLSEYE: Center of target area. You may generate up to 15 randomized convoys via the F10/other menu. Look for this mission to be updated as feedback starts to come in.

Fly an Iron Hand mission to take out a pesky SAM site guarding Haiphong Harbour.  

Fly low and fast. Pop up and aim your Shrikes at the SAM radar.  Once it is down you can follow up with your zuni rockets to take out the launchers themselves.

A scoring system is included.  Re-fly it and try to improve your score.

A fairly straightforward mission.  Easy to fly, hard to master.  Taking out the SAM site should not be a challenge if you fly the planned route.  But you'll have to do it using the Navigational aids the A-4 gives you.  Once you have the radar down the real fun begins.  There is a lot of low level AAA about. How many launchers can you get with your 8 rockets and live to tell the tale?

Here it is! The quick to play Top Gun mission you've always wanted. Fly as Maverick over the gorgeous desert landscape of Nevada and see if you can win against Jester, Viper, and the other instructors. You'll be joined by Iceman & Slider, Cougar & Merlin, and Wolfman & Hollywood.

This mission features variable triggers to provide some variety and replayability, as well as some surprises in a couple permutations. Be ready for anything!

The freeware community A-4 Mod is required. This mission is designed to be quick and fun, and something you will want to fly again and again to scratch that Top Gun itch. I can also make a modified version with airstart and faster action, if requested, or multiplayer. Happy to do that.

In this mission, your favorite pilots from Top Gun (plus a couple others to round out the roster) meet in the skies over Nevada for a fast-paced furball. The student pilots will depart from Creech, and the Aggressors from Groom Lake. The mission ends when one side has crashed and burned. Sorry, there are no points for second place, and the plaque for the alternates is in the ladies' room!
