(the R-27ER cant be added to the F14B due to lack of file access for the F14B).

It also contains the the R-73 replacement for the AIM-9M so that the IRIAF F14B can also use the R-73.

I created an instant action type mission to replicate the events on 17 October 1943 over Bougainville.
VMF-214, the Black Sheep Squadron, was established earlier in 1943 and quickly earned a reputation for high-risk fighter sweeps and air combat successes under Boyington’s command. The actions around mid-October 1943 were part of a sustained campaign of air operations in the Solomon Islands aimed at isolating key Japanese strongholds such as Rabaul and reducing enemy capabilities across the theater.

This aircraft represents a VMF-214 Corsair operating from the rough, coral-based airstrips of Bougainville during late 1943. Finished in the early-war U.S. Navy two-tone camouflage, the aircraft features Blue-Grey upper surfaces over Light Gray undersides. Fuselage number 740 is applied in large white numerals forward of the national insignia, consistent with Marine Corps practice within MAG-11 at the time. The paint finish reflects extensive operational wear from tropical exposure, frequent sorties, and field maintenance, resulting in a noticeably faded and uneven surface characteristic of front-line Corsairs in the Solomon Islands campaign.

This aircraft represents a VMF-214 Corsair operating from the primitive forward airstrips at Bougainville during the height of the Solomon Islands campaign. Finished in the early-war U.S. Navy two-tone camouflage, the aircraft carries a heavily weathered Blue-Grey upper surface over Light Gray undersides. Fuselage number 883 is painted in large white numerals forward of the national insignia, consistent with squadron practice at the time. The finish reflects prolonged exposure to tropical sun, humidity, coral dust, and constant combat operations, resulting in pronounced fading, staining, and surface wear.
