This is a fictional scenery for the Maug island at the northern tip of the Marianas. It features historic sailships, lots of shipwrecks, fishermans' dwellings and ─ yes ─ sharks lurking in the caldera! Eye candy in a serene Pacific landscape.
But if you have the F4U module you can use it for some serious carrier takeoff and landing training. And the trigger happy ones may spot some ‹Kates›…

Lots of historic sailhips, lots of shipwrecks and some castaway props. All on and around Maug.
So what’s that for? You’re right, no hardcore use in DCS. Just eye-candy in a serene landscape.
If you want to know what’s expecting you, watch my video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5g7KKRpjz8

However note: the video was based on an unpublished version of a ‹Sailship scenery› that I made 3 years ago for the current day Marianas ─ with only a small part of the models being performance optimized with mipmap DDS textures and LODs. Now, after endless hours of dull optimization work, the final scenery differs in some respects from the video. E.g. although I do not claim any historical accuracy and the scenery is fictional and pure fantasy, I found the presence of Swedish and Russian Navy ships in the Pacific Ocean a bit irritating. Therefore I exchanged them with new Dutch ships of my free Sailship asset library.
I also exchanged the Yorktown carrier and the SB2Ds with the Corsairs and the Essex class carrier of the new F4U modul. And the Soryu carrier with the Shinano, which is an optional easy download from User Files and comes as a single object installment. For the B6N1 in the video I found a B5N ‹Kate› DCS AI model by French ceator Emmanuel Baranger ─ generously published under GPL license that allowed me to include it in the package. The package consists of
    • 6 different ship types with hoisted sails, 3 of them also with furled sails
    • 1 Asian junk
    • a moving rowboat with Captain and sailor
    • several sharks (in the caldera ─ it’s safe outside)
    • 7 different ships and boat wrecks plus variants
    • several housings and props
    • a da Vinci type ‹birdman› hanging in the air
The models range from low/mid poly to rather high-poly. However, due to aggressive LOD-ing and the removal of normal and other PBR maps in higher LODs, performance impact in most cases should be neglectable.

You have the option of different ’depths' of installation:
    • everyone’s installation: needs this module, my sailship lib [https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3346481/] and the Marianas WWII map (all free)
    • recommended installation: the above plus payware F4U-Corsair module with the Essex type carrier
    • the full monty: adds Japanese Shinano carrier by IRIAS [https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3343772/] (free in User Files, separate download)

To keep it simple I made only two mission files: one with airstart to suit all depths of installation, including the ones on the free plan. On startup you can choose among several piston aircraft (among them the free TF-51D). The second mission file has you in the cockpit of a Corsair on the carrier deck. For both: I removed warnings for Shinano module, so you either see the Japanese carrier (if DCS could activate the module) or it ist just not there.

Installation: Unpack into your Saved Games/DCS folder (don't create the package's name).
Do the same with my separate Sailship Lib [https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3346481/]
For the Japanese carrier Shinano to appear opposite the US Essex class carrier, download and install the respective addon [https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3343772/]
It seems you don’t need to possess the F4U module to see the US carrier and the AI Corsairs on deck? Please holler if anything doesn’t work as expected.
De-Installation: Simply delete the _J-1775_Sailships-Lib folder in ‹tech› and the mission files in the ‹mission› folder.

The scenery package (640 MB) exceeds the max file size allowed in user files. Your download contains a link to google drive.

Legal notice: I bought the original 3D files in this scenery with game use licenses valid for my games/game addons and migrated them to DCS format. You must therefore NOT use any of this package’s content for you own missions and templates or distribute it on your own!
