Constructed as a FG-1D by Goodyear, NZ5648 entered service in the RNZAF in August 1945.
In 1949 her service career ended and saw her stored at Rukuhia, before being restored in the 1960s by the Waikato Aero Club.
Fr om 1968 to 1971 she was loaned to the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) prior to being sold overseas.
From 1971-early 2000s she was sold several times including being owned by the Old Flying Machine Co. wh ere she was flown by both Ray and Mark Hanna.
Arriving back in New Zealand in 2004 NZ5648 went through several owners before being brought by the current owner in 2023, who restored her to the scheme displayed here.
