The F-16 Called “Savaşan Anka” (The Fighting Phoenix)
The aircraft with tail number 88-0033 is a Turkish F-16C that once suffered a heavy landing accident and severe damage. Although Lockheed reportedly considered it beyond economical repair, Turkish technicians rebuilt the jet and returned it to service. To celebrate its “rebirth,” crew painted a phoenix-style nose art and the name “Savaşan Anka” (Fighting Phoenix) on the aircraft. A symbol that it rose again from the ashes. The jet continued flying with the Turkish Air Force for years afterward.
